Meet Jackson

Jackson Conway was a man of few words, yet he taught us so much through his actions. He led by a quiet example and was an incredible athlete and avid sports fan, always cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide. Jackson loved being outdoors at every opportunity, and he is remembered for his passion for hunting and being a loyal friend. Most importantly, he was a devoted follower of Christ, clinging to his faith and sharing with anyone who would listen that 'God's got this.' Through his journey, especially in the fight against childhood cancer, Jackson inspired countless individuals and encouraged their own spiritual walks. His legacy continues with the Jackson Conway Foundation, which aims to support children with cancer and raise awareness for pediatric cancer.

Jackson's story

In May 2017, Jackson Conway noticed a knot on the side of his jaw, which led to a long journey through the challenges of childhood cancer. After numerous doctor’s appointments, tests, and surgery, he was diagnosed with Ewing Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer. By July 2017, doctors at UAB discovered multiple spots on his lungs as well.

After praying for direction, Jackson's family made the difficult decision to relocate to Houston, TX, for 10 months so he could receive chemotherapy, radiation, and additional surgeries at MD Anderson, a renowned center for pediatric cancer treatment. In May 2018, after completing his treatments, Jackson and his family returned home to Alabama, where he continued to have scans every three months, receiving clear results for an entire year.

However, in May 2019, a scan revealed the heartbreaking news: Jackson's cancer had returned, and there was a spot on his skull. Once again, the Conway family packed their bags and moved back to Texas for surgery and chemotherapy at MD Anderson. Despite the distance, Jackson wanted to be closer to home, especially to enjoy hunting season. His family frequently traveled to USA Children’s Hospital in Mobile for another 10 months of treatment. Jackson finished chemotherapy in February 2020 and then returned to Houston for radiation.

In May 2020, Jackson and his family received devastating news that his cancer had spread to his liver, and there were no further treatment options available. Tragically, at the young age of 17, Jackson entered into his Savior's arms, completely healed and pain-free, on March 8, 2021. His journey has inspired the creation of the Jackson Conway Foundation, aiming to support children with cancer and their families.
