Jackson Conway was a 14-year-old whose unwavering faith in Christ inspired everyone who knew him. After a courageous four-year battle with Ewing Sarcoma, Jackson went home to be with Jesus on March 8, 2021 at the age of 17. Before he passed, Jackson shared a powerful wish—that a 120-foot cross be built along Interstate 65 so that all who pass by would be reminded there is hope in Christ, no matter the circumstance.
Nearly five years later, that wish is has now became a reality.
After months of prayer, planning, and preparation, the evening of March 7, 2026 became a moment that will forever be etched in the hearts of all who attended. Friends, family, supporters, and worshippers gathered in Evergreen, Alabama, to witness the fulfillment of a young boy’s vision — the lighting of the 120-foot cross affectionately known as Jackson’s Wish.
As the sun began to set, a spirit of expectancy filled the air. Under the tent, voices of worship rang out as beloved artists Karen Peck & New River, Kelly Crabb & The Bowling Sisters, and Jason Crabb led the crowd in songs of faith, hope, and encouragement. It was more than a concert — it was a sacred gathering, a night centered on worship and remembrance of the life and legacy of 17-year-old Jackson Conway.
One of the most unforgettable moments of the evening came as Jason Crabb began to sing “The Old Rugged Cross.” As the familiar words echoed across the grounds, many in the audience felt led to quietly exit the tent and make their way toward the hillside where the towering cross stood in the darkness. In a moment filled with reverence and emotion, Jackson’s sister, Chloe, had the honor of turning on the lights of the cross for the very first time.
As the brilliant white light illuminated the night sky and shone across Interstate 65, tears flowed freely and hearts were lifted heavenward. It was a powerful reminder that Jackson’s wish — born from unwavering faith during his battle with cancer — had now become a reality that would point countless people toward hope in Christ for years to come.
In that sacred moment, many believed Heaven itself was rejoicing. We can only imagine that Jackson, surrounded by loved ones and friends who have gone before us, had a front-row seat — his million-dollar grin stretched from cheek to cheek.
The Jackson Conway Foundation extends its deepest gratitude to every person who attended, volunteered, prayed, and supported this historic evening. We also offer heartfelt thanks to the gifted artists who shared their time and talents to make the night so meaningful: Karen Peck & New River, Kelly Crabb & The Bowling Sisters, and Jason Crabb.
March 7 was more than an event. It was a testimony.
A testimony of faith.
A testimony of community.
And most importantly, a testimony that the legacy and wish of one quiet, faithful young man will continue to shine brightly — just like the cross that now stands as a beacon of hope for all who pass by.
